TLT Enrichment Center's remarkable educational journey began decades ago in 1978 when Patricia Carey Kimathi began tutoring gifted students.
By the 1990s, Patricia and AyiKwei Kimathi had created a full-service educational center. Through dedication, innovation, and a deep commitment to the community, the center has had a long-term impact on the lives of inner-city youth and made a difference in students' academic and emotional lives.
Through the years, the Kimathis have served hundreds of children, providing a wide variety of educational opportunities, including educational therapy, enrichment services, I.E.P. support, and case management services, tutoring. In the past decade they have incorporated personalized virtual/online services. .
Patricia Kimathi, an educational therapist, educational consultant, and university professor, has a Master's in Clinical Psychology and an EdD in Education and Leadership.
She is a credentialed teacher with experience from pre-k through college in public, charter, and private schools. She also has Certification in Teaching in the Virtual/Online Classroom.
During her years in public education, she served in various roles. As lead teacher, she spearheaded school reform and wrote many collaborative school and community grants.
She has served on the boards of the California Association for the Gifted, the Central Cities Association for Gifted Children, and the Association for Educational Therapists.
Patricia specializes in identifying and cultivating the gifts and talents of children in marginalized communities. In 2020, she cofounded the Central Cities Association for Gifted and Talented Children with her husband, AyiKwei, to expand this commitment.
AyiKwei Kimathi is the Executive Director of The Learning Tree Enrichment Center. He has decades of business experience.
AyiKwei has an eclectic mix of successful experiences in the private business sectors, as well as education, technology, and entertainment. He has started and operated three successful business models: Kimathi & Kimathi Entertainment & Educational Consultants, The Learning Tree Enrichment Center, and Two Thousand Seasons Entertainment Company.
Kimathi has worked as an entertainment consultant for over 20 years, helping fledging entertainers hone their skills. He has also worked as a technology and music consultant to improve learning opportunities for low-income and underserved families in the neighboring cities of Los Angeles.
AyiKwei is committed to improving the lives of diverse marginalized families. In 2020, he co-founded the Central Cities Association for Gifted and Talented Children with his wife, Patricia.
